HQ PaperMaker™ is a leading specialist paper producer based in northern Thailand. We employ age-old traditional techniques for handmade production. Our production capabilities are very versatile and we are able to cater for practically any speciality paper needs that you have. Our approach to paper production is constant innovation.

Most important, we are sensitive to environmental concerns and take care to manage production in a way that minimises negative impact on the environment. For example our mulberry paper is made from the branches of the trees which grow again very rapidly. We do not cut trees down to make any of our paper. We have also developed ranges of recycled and non-wood based papers from abundant local organic materials.

Why this website?

We believe in the highest standard of customer service which is why we created this website in September 1999 - one of the very first e-commerce websites in Thailand. Here, we provide all of the information you need to make your selection, place an order and contact us. We provide secure online payment and we update our product range regularly. In May 2005 we completely reworked the site to incorporate the very latest technology in order to make your ordering and browsing experience faster, easier and even more enjoyable.

Our Background

HQ Group was established in England in 1990 as the first importer and distributor of handmade mulberry paper and products from Thailand. After four years of valuable experience in import and distribution, in 1994 HQ Group Co., Ltd. was registered in Thailand to further develop handmade paper production facilities. HQ Group owns a model handmade paper factory employing highly skilled craftspeople who use traditional tools and production methods for papermaking and pollution free recycled waste water disposal systems.

We have 20 years of experience in creating and selling specialty paper and so you can trust us to know exactly how to cater for your needs.

HQ PaperMaker's raison d'etre is to provide a high standard of professionalism in everything that we do - from quality production through packaging, shipping and all aspects of customer service.

Our Trademark

In 1999 we registered HQ PaperMaker as our trademark to symbolise our ongoing commitment to the innovative development and production of the highest quality papers combined with excellence in customer service. HQ paperMaker remains the only registered brand of decorative paper in Thailand. We are promoted on the Select List of the Thai Government Department of Export Promotion.

Our People

HQ Group is managed by a team of 12 senior staffs, together with 11 highly skilled papermakers - for many of whom papermaking has been in their family for generations - and warehouse staff for QC, packing and order fulfilment.

HQ Group's Managing Director is Kenji Owaki, an experienced professional with a 34 year career in paper. A graduate in Chemical Engineering, Kenji's nine years experience as a Process Engineer at a paper factory in Japan brings expertise and innovation to the team at HQ, particularly in the area of production, where he insists upon the highest possible standards. Kenji also worked for Procter & Gamble (based in Japan and China) for 22 years. His management roles within P&G covered manufacturing operations, engineering projects, product supply and planning for Asian markets. This experience helps HQ to get great paper to your door quickly and smoothly. Before taking over the role of MD from our founder Henry Quick, Kenji built up a strong familiarity with our products and services and most importantly, first hand knowledge of what customers are looking for, as the official Agent for HQ PaperMaker in Japan.

This depth of experience lies behind all that we do and gives to HQ PaperMaker an edge in providing you with first rate products and service, backed by the knowledge of every facet of production and distribution.

About our services

Order size: no order is too small or too large. We are able to supply any quantity from a few sheets to a full container load; so distributors, retailers and individual consumers - you are all most welcome to buy directly from us.

Custom product: as producers we are able to make virtually any type of decorative paper. Our in-house graphic design team can also turn packaging concepts into reality and we can cater for all your print needs locally. Our assembly crew is also adept at creating paper products like greeting cards and paper gift bags. If you can't see what you are looking for on this website please contact us.

Quality control: because we love our paper, we pay loving attention to the distribution of every order. You can rest assured that our packaging and quality control are second to none.

Shipping: for most orders we can arrange door-to-door delivery. Don't worry about shipping and documentation - we will organise all that on your behalf by the most suitable method: sea freight, air freight, or courier service.

Pricing: we have developed a discount pricing scale such that whatever quantity you order - as an individual, a shop or as a wholesaler - you will get the best deal available.
